The Spring Festival is here,and the festive atmosphere is in full swing.On the evening of January23,at the Baoquan Shengjing Park in Luozhuang District,Linyi City,Shandong Province,the202519th Spring Festival Lantern and Temple Fair event came to life with a dazzling display of lights,offering a vibrant celebration filled with fun,tradition,and culture.As the night fell,the entire park glowed with brilliance,transforming into a"city of lights"on the night of the Little New Year.
This year’s Lantern and Temple Fair,which began on January18,2025(the19th day of the12th month in the lunar calendar),will run until February14,2025(the17th day of the1st month in the lunar calendar),lasting for28days.From6p.m.to10p.m.each evening,the lantern displays and grand performances unfold simultaneously,offering citizens a spectacular visual and auditory cultural feast celebrating folk traditions.
As an important part of the New Year customs,the Baoquan Shengjing Lantern and Temple Fair carries on the tradition of"Viewing Lanterns"from the Tang Dynasty,which has been passed down through generations.It has become a popular cultural event that combines aesthetics,entertainment,and cultural significance,and is also one of Linyi City’s famous tourism attractions.
“This year,we have gathered a variety of lantern displays,from large-scale light installations to exquisite small lanterns.These lanterns are carefully crafted by skilled artisans from Zigong,blending modern technology with traditional cultural elements,showcasing a unique artistic charm,”said the park’s spokesperson.“During the Lantern and Temple Fair,visitors can not only admire the lanterns but also enjoy folk and intangible cultural heritage performances,including dragon and lion dances,iron flower shows,intangible heritage fire pots,stilt performances,and even traditional skills such as the nearly lost‘Er Gui Wrestling,’offering the public an opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere and deepen their understanding and appreciation of traditional cultural celebrations.”
